Unity Learning and Resource Centre to be rehabilitated

Residents of Unity and nearby communities on the East Coast Demerara will soon benefit from the rehabilitation of the Unity Learning and Resource Centre and the construction of a cutting-edge Welding and Fabrication facility, following a $23.7 million contract signing on Monday.  A release from the Ministry of Labour said that the facility will be built in accordance with the Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQs) standards and is expected to be completed before year-end.

The Ministry of Labour signed contract with the Perba Trading and Construction for the Board of Industrial Training to boost its efforts to equip citizens with the skills needed to sustain a livelihood.

Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour;  Bishram Kuppen, Permanent Secretary;  Denise Sealey, Deputy Permanent Secretary; Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BIT,  Saskia Eastman-Onwuzirike, and other officials were present.
