Four selected for UK Chevening awards

The British High Commission yesterday announced four 2023 Chevening scholarship awardees from Guyana.

They are:

Amrita Naraine, Lead Researcher at ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc. She is set to pursue her MSc in Data Science and AI for the Creative Industries at the University of the Arts London.

Born and raised in Queenstown Village, Essequibo Coast, Deanna Walcott is a literacy and oracy advocate who volunteers her time and skills towards youth development.

As a Chevening Scholar, she is poised to embark on an MSc journey in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Deanna works as an Environment and Safety Officer at Banks DIH Ltd.

Joshua Benn is an Attorney-at-Law and a Tutorial Lecturer in the University of Guyana’s Law Department. He previously served as a Legal Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, where he appeared before the International Court of Justice as an Adviser to the Government of Guyana.

Benn will pursue an LLM in Oil, Gas, and Renewable Energy Law at Swansea University.

Keisha Edwards is the owner and Creative Director of the fashion brand Shasha Designs. She is an award winning designer and graduate of the Caribbean Academy of Fashion and Design, at the University of Trinidad and Tobago.

She will be pursue a MA in Fashion Business Management at the University of Westminster.
