Traditional powerhouses Pouderoyen and Uitvlugt recorded contrasting wins yesterday in the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League at the Tuschen ground.

Pouderoyen stormed to a 4-0 victory over Wales. Following a scoreless first-half interval, Deangelo Peters crafted the opener in the 60th, uncorking a powerful left-foot strike into the top left corner after racing into the center of the field from the right side.

Peters added to his tally to make it 2-0 in the 63rd minute. It was a conversion that mirrored his first, as Peters, upon cutting onto his left foot from the right side of the field, rifled a powerful strike into the lower left corner.

Devin Gaskin then got into the scoring act in the 70th minute, blasting a right-footed strike from a free-kick at the top of the 18-yard area into the back of the net. The result was eventually sealed in the 87th minute, as experienced forward Esan Nelson etched his name on the score-sheet.

Racing away from his marker to latch onto a through pass, Nelson placed his effort into the right corner during a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Uitvlugt overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat the Eagles 2-1. Identically to the aforementioned fixture, all three conversions were recorded in the second half. Kelvin Kujal handed the Eagles the initial advantage, breaking the deadlock in the 55th minute.

Racing into the left side of the 18-yard box, Kujal, upon latching onto a perfectly weighted cross from the right side of the field, slotted his effort into the left corner.

However, Uitvlugt equalized in the form of Kevis Fraser in the 67th minute. Awarded a penalty for an infraction inside the area, Fraser, who was tasked with the responsibility from a distance, failed with his initial attempt as the goalkeeper denied the effort, only for the forward to score on his second shot after the ball entered his path from the resulting save.

The victory was then sealed in the 70th minute via a moment of individual brilliance from Montel Dainty. Racing down the center of the field from the defensive line, Dainty evaded several challenges before slotting past the advancing goalkeeper into the right corner.
