Permaul to lead Berbice senior Inter County team

Former West Indies left-arm orthodox spinner Veerasammy Permaul has been named captain of a strong Berbice side for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board limited overs competition.

While Gudakesh Motie is the only test player in the squad, much will depend on Shimron Hetmyer who has also been named in the team.

The team possesses a perfect blend of seasoned veterans and promising young talent and according to a release from the Berbice Cricket Board, “promises to bring excitement and competitiveness to the local cricket scene.”

Romario Shepherd is the vice-captain.

Apart from Hetmyer, the squad also includes players like Kevin Sinclair, Jonathan Foo, Kevlon Anderson, Anthony Bramble and young sensation Junior Sinclair.

The bowling attack will be led by the dependable spin duo of Permaul and  Motie as well as talented talisman, Kevin Sinclair while Clinton Pestano and Nial Smith will provide ample support in the pace department to Shepherd, whose all-round abilities will add depth to the bowling attack.

The squad also includes young talent like Shamar Joseph and Nigel Deodat.

The BCB has also identified a list of players who have been selected for possible inclusion in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) select team. 

They are Isai Thorne, Zeynul Ramsammy, Jonathan Rampersaud, Qwesi Mickle, Sylus Tyndall, Suresh Dhanai, Demetri Cammeron, Kelvin Umroa, Seon Glasgow, and Jermey Sandia, all  recognized for their talent and dedication to the sport.

Julian Moore, a seasoned coach with a track record of success, will be at the helm. His experience and knowledge will be instrumental in shaping the team’s performance.
