Twenty-seven-year-old Nicolas Smith appeared yesterday before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with unlawful and malicious wounding causing actual bodily harm, and discharging a loaded firearm.

It is alleged that on October 16, Smith unlawfully and maliciously wounded Brandon Ryes with the intent to maim, disfigure, or disable, causing actual bodily harm. He is also accused of discharging a loaded firearm at Usain Campbell and Kishan Fraser.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

The court heard that the defendant and the three persons are all known to each other and reside in the same yard. On the day in question, a scuffle ensued, which led the defendant to discharge the firearm.

Bail was refused and Smith was remanded to prison until his next appearance scheduled for October 27.
