Upper Demerara, Bartica earn wins in NAMILCO U17 Football

Upper Demerara and Bartica secured contrasting victories when the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) U17 Football Association League continued yesterday.

Over at the Wisburg Secondary School ground in Linden, hosts Upper Demerara squeaked past Essequibo/Pomeroon 1-0 via a Joshua Fleming strike in the 19th minute.

Meanwhile, Bartica brushed aside the West Demerara 3-1 at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda.

The trio of Ian Gomes, Shawn Bobb, and Kyle Timmerman scored in the 24th, 35th, and 50th minutes, respectively. On target in the loss was Shakeel King in the 80th minute.

Also, East Demerara and the National U15 programme played to a 1-1 stalemate at the GFC ground. Bryan Wharton scored for East Demerara in the sixth minute, while Tyrell Walcott equalised for the National U15 side in the 83rd minute.
