Clifton construction worker stabbed to death

A Clifton Settlement, Corentyne construction worker was fatally stabbed on Sunday evening following an argument at a shop while attempting to purchase something to drink.

Dead is Ramanand Mingo, 29 of Lot 247 Clifton Settlement, Corentyne.

According to Mingo’s brother, Dianand Mingo, he and Ramanand were returning home around 10.50 pm, when his brother told him that he wanted something to drink.

“I tell he all over shut up that he can’t get nothing to drink and he tell me Metalay shop open and when abbay go there me give he $5,000 to go buy something to drink”, Dianand said.

He related that he remained outside of the shop on his scooter and watched his brother walk into the shop to purchase his items.

As Ramanand stood at the counter, Dianand said that he noticed that his brother and another person present at the shop began arguing. “Them two start fling up hand and thing and the bai deh far pon am (Ramanand) and me jump down pon the scooter but be time we run go fa bring am out a boy come and shove a knife on he (Ramanand) and a bai run gone.”

A devastated Dianand said, that he was chased out of the shop by one of the proprietors with a cutlass.

“Me buddy deh in me hand and me had to throw him down on the road. He dead in me hand and me had to throw he down pon the road and he (the cutlass wielding person at the shop) run out with cutlass fa chop me and me tell am me buddy dead and he run gone back and me na get nobody to help carry me buddy a hospital, end up he dead and me and me buddy alone left on the road”, he said.

Ramanand reportedly sustained one stab wound to the left side of his chest.

As of yesterday afternoon, the family remained in shock as to what had transpired and were pleading for police to nab the perpetrator.

Meanwhile, a post-mortem yesterday gave the cause of death as shock and hae-morrhage and a stab wound to the heart.
