Kevin De Souza, a 41-year-old resident of Bartica has been charged with the rape of an 11-year-old girl between 1st and 31st July 2021 at Bartica.
The police say that the accused appeared yesterday at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam to answer to the charge of ‘Rape of a Child under 16 years’, contrary to Section 10(3) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03.
The charge was read to De Souza and he was not required to plead. He was placed on $300,000 cash bail. The matter was adjourned to 2023-12-22.
