Cropper Primary was crowned the Future Warriors Tapeball Berbice Champions following an unbeaten campaign yesterday at the Port Mourant Community Centre ground.

Entering the final round alongside fellow undefeated outfits Tain and Fyrish, Cropper defeated the aforesaid do to clinch the title.

Cropper, in their first match, crushed Tain by nine wickets. Batting first, Tain recorded 49-4. Sumit Samaroo scored 37 runs (5x4s; 1×6). In reply, Cropper raced to the target in a mere four overs. Royston Crandon Jr. recorded an unbeaten 22 runs (2x4s; 2x6s), while Timothy Ramsarack also ended undefeated with 19 runs. Adding 11 runs was Jayden Garner.

In their second match, Cropper recorded the highest score of the event, 98-1 against Fyrish. Ramsarack smashed three sixes and three fours in his 38-run inning from 18 balls, while Garner ended unbeaten on 33 runs (2x4s; 3x6s) from 19 balls. Crandon Jr. was also among the runs with a five-ball 21 (2x4s; 2x6s). In response, Fyrish could only muster 68-7, which clinched the title for Cropper.

With the win, Cropper walked away with the championship trophy and medals. They also received pieces of equipment. On the individual side, Ramsarack was adjudged the Most Valuable Player and also pocketed the Most Wickets accolade with six scalps.

In what was essentially a third-place playoff, Tain defeated Fyrish by one run. Batting first, Tain tallied 76-2, with Lekraj Rambarran and Keyron Bridgemohan scoring 30 and 29 runs, respectively. In response, Fyrish fell short at 75. Aryan Ali amassed an unbeaten 39 runs from 10 balls.

Meanwhile, co-director of FL Sport, John Ramsingh, stated during the presentation ceremony that he was impressed with the quality of the competing teams, which is indicative of his vast knowledge of the sport at such a young age.
