Rising star Bristol honoured by community of Nabaclis for exploits at ‘Nationals’

Following his remarkable exploits at the recently concluded 61st edition of the National Schools Cycling, Swimming, and Track and Field Championships, national U-8 dual champion Jadon Bristol was honoured by the community of Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara, on Sunday, December 17th.

Nephew of former Commonwealth Boxing Champion Kenny Bristol, the Golden Grove Primary standout etched his name in the local annals as he was crowned the U-8 150M and 400M champions, respectively, defeating fellow emerging talents Akaziah Semple and Kester DeSouza. Bristol also secured silver medals in the boy’s U-8 80m sprint and long jump.

The rising star was the toast of the community and, as such, was honoured by the Nabaclis Youths and Community Development Co-op Foundation, in collaboration with the Kalabash Diaspora Organisation.

Support for the event, which was attended by former Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Barton Scotland, also emanated from local residents and businesses in the village and other entities from the East Coast Demerara environs.

Bristol was presented with several accolades, including the trophy from Hype Laundromat in Golden Grove, as well as cash incentives and other prizes. The other contributors included One Stop Hardware, Coleen Supermarket, James Bond, Jackie’s Supermarket, The Water Factor, and Pharmacy Nabaclis.

Meanwhile, former Speaker Dr. Scotland praised the initiative, which not only highlighted Bristol’s athletic talents and accomplishments but also underlined the unity and support within the community, which fosters a sense of pride.
