Capital FC and Milerock will contest the final of the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Futsal Championship tomorrow following hard-fought semi-final wins on Friday evening at the Retrieve Tarmac, Linden.
In what can only be described as a shootout following a tally of a combined 24 goals, Capital FC squeaked past Botofago 14-10. Capital FC’s victory was engineered by captain Tyric McAllister, who recorded a whopping nine conversions, which is the most by an individual player in the tournament to date.
He was supported by Mortimer Giddings, who tallied a double, while the trio of Andre Mayers, Duquan Wilson, and Emmanuel Atkins etched their names on the scorer’s sheet once, respectively.
On the other side of the field, 10 conversions emanated from the boots of three players in a losing effort. Omar Brewley led the way with an impressive five conversions. The next best scorer with a hat-trick was Amoniki Buntin, while the dependable Jayshawn Moore proved ample support with a brace.
Meanwhile, Milerock overcame Winners Connection by a 4-2 score-line. Marcus Tudor bagged a brace in the win. He was supported by the combination of Allan Haley and Jonah Simon, who scored one goal, respectively. For the losers, the duo of Andre Phillips and Nicholas Gentle found the back of the net once, respectively.
The winners of the aforementioned fixtures will compete in the final tomorrow at the same venue. On the other hand, the losing semi-finalists will battle in the earlier third-place playoff.
