Sampson, Hunte, Wray victorious in the ‘Developmental Boxing Championship’

Tiquan Sampson, Dexter Wray, and Ronaldo Hunte were among the winners when the Guyana Boxing Association’s (GBA) ‘Developmental Championship’ concluded last evening at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. Sampson of the Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF) bested Shamrock Wintz of the New Amsterdam Boxing Academy (NABA) on points in the Youth 64-67 kg final.

Wray of the Guyana Police Force outscored Ronaldo Sutton of the Guyana Defence Force in the Elite Flyweight (49–51 kg) final. Meanwhile, Hunte of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Gym defeated Ken Harvey of Pace and Power via decision in the junior 56-59 kg final.

In other results, Donn Sadhoe of Suriname defeated Jaden Fileen of Guyana in the schoolboys 43-45 kg final via a second round stoppage, while Ryan Rogers of FYF defeated Isaacs Ruiz of Pace and Power Gym on points in the juniors 51-53 kg final. Also, Izah Daniels of Pace and Power Gym defeated Andrew Rodgers of NABA on points in the 48–50 kg juniors final, while Dreshawn Willery of Pace and Power Gym defeated club-mate Nicholas Ashby via points in the 33–35 kg schoolboys final. Up until press time, several other fights were underway.
