Western Tigers mauled Anns Grove 4-0 last evening in the KFC Elite League at the Guyana Football Federation National Training Centre, Providence.

Trayon Bobb recorded the only conversion of the first half, as he found the back of the net in the 32nd minute, cutting onto his right foot before blasting the ball into the back of the net.

Upon the resumption, Andrew Murray doubled their advantage in the 54th minute, sprinting to the left of the penalty area before rifling his effort into the roof of the far corner.

A header inside the six-yard area from Randolph Wagner in the 63rd minute further increased their advantage to 3-0. The result was then sealed in the 70th minute, as Jermaine Beckles etched his name on the scorer’s sheet, uncorking a powerful strike that took a marginal deflection off the defender and settled into the back of the net.

Western Tigers head coach Charles ‘Lily’ Pollard, during a post-match comment, said, “I think it was a good performance; we started to gel a little more. With the addition of William Europe and Cecil Jackman, that brought more quality and experience to the team, but I think fitness-wise, we are getting there. We are probably 40 to 50% of where we should be, but the ball movement was good, and we dominated the game for large periods.”

The winner of the tournament will receive $2,000,000, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $1,200,000, $800,000, and $500,000, respectively. The event continues on Tuesday at the same venue with another round of matches.
