The Eagles levelled their best of three series in the ‘One Guyana’ Basketball League Championship final at 1-1, defeating the Ravens in game two by a 67-59 score-line on Saturday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Travis Belgrave top-scored for the eventual victor with a game-high 18 points. He was supported by Michael Richards and Sherland Gillis, who scored 15 and 11 points, respectively.

For the loser, Owan Walton recorded 17 points, while Dominic Vicente and Ryan Stephney were the next best scorers with 16 and eight points, respectively.

The Eagles led from the start of the contest, as the first stanza ended 22-14. The Eagles built on their lead in the second period, scoring 20 points while restricting the Ravens offence to 16 points to enter the halftime interval in control at 42-30.

The Ravens marginally reduced the deficit in a low-scoring third quarter, netting 10 points while reducing the Eagles attack to a meagre four points to trail 40-48 heading into the final quarter.

However, any hopes of a Ravens comeback were quashed in the fourth stanza, as both teams netted 19 points. The deciding third fixture will occur on Saturday at the same venue.
