Guyana departs today for Carifta Games in Grenada

Guyana’s athletic squad will depart local shores today to compete in the annual Carifta Games Championship, which is slated for March 30th – April 1st at the Kirani James Stadium in Grenada.

Notable athletes such as Tianna Springer, Javon Roberts, Nerissa McPherson, Attoya Harvey, and Malachi Austin will lead the 23-member roster, which also comprises Sahel Cornett, Charisa December, Nalicia Glen, Rondell Green, Jamal Sullivan, Robert Marcus, Dhanielson Gill, Athaleyha Hinckson, Duel Europe, Skylar Charles, Kaidon Persaud, Ezekiel Millington, Easter McKinnon, Ryan Joseph, Akilla Blucher, Keneta Fraser, Marissa Thomas, and Nathaniel Samaroo.

Meanwhile, the squad met with Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport (MCY&S) Charles Ramson Jr., as well as Director of Sport Steve Ninvalle and Vice-Chair of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Christy Campbell.

The meeting was part of a recently established mandate for national programmes to meet with officials from the MCY&S and the NSC to discuss the intricacies and expectations of their respective campaigns.
