Eteringbang won the Regatta Football Championship, blanking Rivers View 3-0 on Saturday evening at the Bartica Community Centre ground.
The Eteringbang outfit secured a 1-0 advantage as Alex Bolivar found the back of the net in the 12th minute. It was only a conversion of the first half of the contest. Upon the resumption, the result was sealed following two conversions from Luis Masquera in the space of 18 minutes.
Masquera doubled his side’s advantage as he opened his account in the 59th minute. He then made his presence felt once more as he completed his brace in the 77th minute. With the win, Eteringbang walked away with the championship trophy and $400,000.
On the other hand, Rivers View pocketed $250,000 and the runner-up accolade.
In the third-place playoff, Potaro dismantled Agatash 5-0. Four goals in the second half, following a Reon Hall conversion in the 19th minute, secured the victory.
Daniel Gardner doubled their lead in the 60th minute, before Shamar Stephen got into the scoring act in the 65th minute to push the score to 3-0. Derron Baksh then recorded a conversion in the 71st minute, before Riley Tracey completed the lopsided encounter with an 80th-minute strike.
Due to the outcome, Potaro received $100,000 and the third-place trophy, while the loser walked away with $60,000 and the corresponding accolade.
Meanwhile, Rivers View defeated the Potaro Strikers 3-1 in the women’s exhibition encounter. The trio of Sheleen Williams, Glendy Lewis, and Beth Williams etched their names on the scorer’s sheet in the 11th, 44th, and 64th minutes, respectively. On target in the loss was Tytheon Jones in the 57th minute.
