An autopsy performed by government pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh on the body of Shawn George, the 52-year-old man who was stabbed to death during a scuffle on Wednesday night, has disclosed that he died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

On Wednesday night, George was stabbed at around 5 pm during an altercation with another man, a 34-year-old resident of West Ruimveldt, in front of a shop located at Vlissengen Square, George-town.

Inquiries revealed that the victim was at the shop sitting on a bench, when the assailant rode past on a motorcycle and verbally abused him. George shouted back at the suspect, telling him that he (the suspect) should repeat the insult to his face.

The assailant stopped, came off the motorcycle, and approached George, after which a scuffle ensued.

During the scuffle, where the two men ended up in a drain, the assailant drew a knife from his waist and stabbed George four times: one in his left forearm and three to the left side of his abdomen.

After stabbing the victim, the assailant escaped on his motorcycle in a northern direction, leaving the wounded victim in the drain.

George was subsequently picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while undergoing medical treatment.

The matter was reported to the police and the murder weapon was retrieved at the scene.

The assailant is currently being sought by the police.
