Dear Editor, Your edition of Wednesday, August 8, carried correspondence over the name Hamilton Green JP, captioned ‘Even in sport we seem unable to rise above petty party politics.’

Dear Editor, The description of Lindeners as ‘freeloaders’ or ‘lazy’ is a well-orchestrated political attack on a people whose only crime is that, having lived through hard times in the PNC era and then endured the last 20 years of the PPP’s discrimination and attempts to brainwash via NCN and buy their political loyalty with subsidized electricity, they still refused to vote PPP in 2011.

Dear Editor, The Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID) fully supports the AFC’s complete and unequivocal rejection of the PPP’s second proposed term of reference for the commission of inquiry into the police killings of the three Lindeners.

Dear Editor, The cost for GPL to supply its customers across Guyana with electricity is maybe very expensive to them, and so too for its hundreds of thousands of customers across this nation.

Dear Editor, It is no secret that the Mayor and City Council is facing a daunting challenge in respect of garbage collection and disposal.

Dear Editor, To those who levelled an unsubstantiated allegation (‘Boodram should withdraw as chair…‘) in SN of August 7 against Annan Boodram, chairman of a youth conference on violence, should be made aware that Boodram is not a defender or apologist of the PPP.

Dear Editor, Guinea fowls or birds have long had a special place in the English language and more recently have had the distinction of starting at least one international war.

Dear Editor, The regrettably grievous situation in Linden strongly reinforces the essential value and role for civil society’s active participation in the larger political narrative as well as the existing political arrangement in parliament.

Dear Editor, Guyana could never seriously have pretended that it had hopes, much more chances, of achieving an Olympic medal, so totally underprepared were its representatives for such a high standard of competition.

Dear Editor, In reference to the letter by Messrs Rose and Singh in SN (‘Raj Singh is not a management professional with a global understanding of sugar issues’), there are some who might say that “Joey” just recently supported the PPP in the last elections and now, only 8 months later, he criticizes this Ramotar government.

Dear Editor, Citizens would have learnt of the exercise through the media on Tuesday at City Hall, when there was a rumour that the government had planned the imposition of an Interim Management Committee (IMC).

Dear Editor, Please allow me to comment on Godfrey Skeete’s letter carried by you on August 8 (‘There was no Plan B in Linden for when bauxite declined’).

Dear Editor, I hope that I am not alone in taking note of President Ramotar’s attempts to display strong-arm tactics over the recent peaceful demonstrations of civil disobedience in Linden.

Dear Editor, I refer to yesterday’s news item in SN which indicates the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Guyana (ICAG) has written to Mr Carl Greenidge, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, requesting certain information regarding allegations of conflict of interest involving the Minister of Finance and his wife in her capacity as Audit Director in the Audit Office.
