Uneven scales of justice

Dear Editor, As lads, we had implanted in our minds the concept of justice where we were shown a female holding a scale that was balanced.

Numbers game?

Dear Editor, Some time after a good run of the new format of the Lotto-Super 6, the numbers were reduced to 1-28 from 1-36.

Scare tactic?

Dear Editor, Since the West Indies cricket team can no longer be depended on to be victorious in the game of cricket, may I suggest that the players be encouraged by the West Indies Cricket Board to wear sunblock of varying colours on the playing field, regardless of the weather conditions, in an attempt to scare the opposing team(s) into early submission(s).

Government should make public the Purchase Power Agreement with Sithe Global

Dear Editor, I refer to a letter by Brian Kubeck and Bruce Wrobel of Sithe Global in SN dated June 17 on the proposed Amaila Hydropower Plant, indicating that the final closure price for the Amaila Hydro project will be known later and financial closure is expected within 6 to 8 months time (‘Hopeful that Amaila Falls Hydro project will start final due diligence, documentation in July’).

We seem content to relegate the measured 300 million and indicated 100,000 million tonnes of the world’s highest grade bauxite to the dustbin of bauxite history because of high overburden

Dear Editor, I was intrigued by the closing paragraph of Prime Minister Samuel Hinds’ letter, ‘The PPP/C government embarked on a programme to refashion the bauxite sector so it would become profitable again’ in your edition of Sunday, May 20, 2012, which reads as follows: “Truth is that nothing is forever; every situation has its time of birth and growth and glory days, but the world steadily moves on; things change.
