Dear Editor, Over the years Indian-Guyanese have been pummelled by many writers and, in particular, Kaieteur News columnist, Freddie Kissoon, for voting for the PPP.

Dear Editor, There is an article in SN of December 29 concerning a power surge at Reliance, East Canje, where some residents lost their electrical equipment and were being asked by GPL for receipts of purchase to process applications for compensation.

Dear Editor, I refer to a letter which appeared in your edition of December 10, captioned ‘Samaroo misinformed about homes built by Food for the Poor at St Cuthbert’s’ where Mr Leon Davis, Director of Food for the Poor Guyana (FFTP), replied to your columnist Shaun Michael Samaroo. 

Dear Editor, My nomination for Stabroek News’ Person of the Year is Ms Syeada Manbodh.

Dear Editor, I listened with some disquiet, the announcement by the Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon, that there is a proposal to have established at a location outside of the city, a specialist hospital to be staffed by Nationals from India.

Dear Editor, I could not help but think that even if one were to disagree with the substance of Assistant Commissioner Steve Merai’s recent pronouncements, I am not so sure that there was widespread rejection of the spirit of independent thought which his comments projected.

Dear Editor, I am informed that sports journalists do not always write on the conduct and outcomes of the particular sport of their interest.

Dear Editor, In an article in SN dated December 24th 2011 and captioned `PPP/C accuses the opposition of insincerity in speaker negotiations’, the PPP/C   is reported to have said that there are precedents within the Commonwealth that dictate that the speaker comes from the ruling party.

Dear Editor,   The Minister of Sport must concern himself with the future of cricket in Guyana – not with the impact changes will have on the sport today.

Dear Editor, It is with interest I read of the Monday, December 26 Stabroek News online article titled ‘Norway deal likely for review by new Parliament’with the views attributed to AFC leader Raphael Trotman who is reported as saying that “reviewing the LCDS to remove conditions that are excessively adverse to small miners and loggers are among the priority issues for the party,” and that the “opposition dominated new Parliament plans to review several deals and miners have in the past called for a percentage of land to be exempted from the Guyana-Norway deal since they feel they cannot meet the standards.”

Dear Editor, Well, I wrote on some issues some time ago concerning the four-lane road into the city and it has come to pass.

Dear Editor, The dust has settled after the Guyana electorate delivered their devastating verdict on the state of the country. 

Dear Editor, I would like to express utter disgust with the unprofessional, selfish, and lackadaisical attitude of a police officer (name given) who was on duty at the Turkeyen Police Station on December 26.

Dear Editor, The much anticipated 2011 election has come and gone and as we settle into the post-election reality and try to dissect the results, the aftermath, what has happened, what lessons have been learnt, what has and hasn’t changed, one cannot do so without mentioning the little party with big dreams which thought it really could, the AFC.

Dear Editor, I refer to Pro-Chancellor Misir’s letter in SN of December 25 (‘The majority opposition is not the executive’).

Dear Editor, I do like watching ‘Eye on the Issues’ on Channel 7 hosted by Yesu Persaud.

Dear Editor, The collective development of this nation will remain hindered by those who can only accept as good, actions when driven by persons they support, and said or similar actions as bad when utilized by persons whom they do not support.

Dear Editor, We suggest that our new government should put a ban on banks charging fees when people pay by credit or debit cards for goods and services.

Dear Editor, I refer to a letter from Public Relations Officer Vishnu Persaud of Gecom titled ‘Gecom followed the law in the case of the recounts requested in Districts 3 and 4 by the PPP/C‘ (SN, December 24). 

Dear Editor, Residents of Richmond Hill are opposing a move by New York City zoning officials to downzone the area making it difficult to expand one’s home or build large homes.
