Most of us will recall the exultation we felt at the exploits of the Jamaicans at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in winning six gold medals, five of them in the sprints, with the magnificent Usain Bolt leading the way, with gold in the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay and the unprecedented feat of setting world records in all three events.

Dear Editor, The note from the UG Students Council captioned ‘Male, not female’ (SN, July 4) reflects a certain tragedy about the lack of progress in gender equality in Guyana.

Dear Editor, As Guyana is potentially a trade route for goods from and to Brazil, much like the Panama Canal links the Atlantic and Pacific, we should ask the Brazilians to build us a road from Lethem to Linden and a deep water harbour in Berbice.

Dear Editor, With the resignation of Mr Ralph Ramkarran from the PPP after many years of dedication and commitment, I would like to publicly apologize to him for my errors of judgment in relation to his political positions over the years.

Dear Editor, If one wanted proof that there is rampant and barefaced corruption in all aspect of business and administrative endeavours in Guyana, the resignation of Mr Ralph Ramkarran from the PPP/C is the perfect smoking gun.

Dear Editor, I thought the good folks over at Stabroek News had more sense and actually had their fingers on the pulse of the PPP government and how it operates on the issue of corruption.
