Dear Editor, I respond here to the Chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), Gerry Gouveia and the other responders re my perception of Gouveia’s tone and conduct in his abrasive and disrespectful letter to Keith Lowenfield, Commissioner of National Registration/Chief Election Officer which was carried in the newspapers on Monday, July 22nd, 2019.

Dear Editor, The United Kingdom Chevening scholarship programme is an excellent investment in the human capital of Guyana.

The 7,000 square miles of rainforest which have vanished in Brazil’s 75,000 forest fires so far this year represent a doubling of the area destroyed last year.

Dear Editor, Since the successful passage of the No-Confidence Motion (NCM) of December 21, 2018, there should have been early elections in our country, 15-18 months earlier than otherwise.

As SN editorialised on Tuesday, the allegation by the Russians that Britain is completing a military base on one of the islands in the Essequibo River with a view to training Venezuelan refugees for reconnaissance and sabotage in the neighbouring state is total fantasy.

Dear Editor, I am a resident of Continental Park, Plantation Peter’s Hall on the East Bank of Demerara, who would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all the residents of the area to vent through the letters column of your newspaper, the complete disgust and frustration of everyone residing there as it relates to the unlawful grazing of cattle in the neighbourhood.

Dear Editor, A writer, in a recent letter to the editor, asserted that “oil companies pay royalty on the petroleum produced” and used that assertion to juxtapose a lament that Guyana’s royalty will instead be paid on “petroleum produced and sold.”
