The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in association with the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) FIFA Member Association Referees Course will commence at 10am today and run until December 3.

According to a press release from the GFF, some 35 participants, both male and female, from affiliate associations are expected to attend the five-day programme.

This course is initially for senior referees with the objective of upgrading their skills to effect greater uniformity and higher standards of performance at the regional and international levels.

Jamaica’s Peter Prendergrast along with Trinidad and Tobago’s Merere Gonzales and Ramesh Ramdhan and local instructors Lawrence Griffith and Colin Aaron are the resource personnel in charge of the event.

During the five days, participants will be exposed to course topics such as Guidelines for Referees and Assistant Referees, 2008-2009 Law Amendments, Laws 11 and 12 – Fitness Training Organization, Psychology in Refereeing and Physical Fitness Overview.

Registration commences at 8:30am and will close half of an hour before the opening of the course.
