Dear Editor, In a letter to the Stabroek News of March 5th on the question of voting and other rights of the Guyanese diaspora, Vishnu Bisram refers to the struggle for the restoration of democracy, and mentions the limiting of rights under what he calls the ‘Burnham constitution.’

Dear Editor, Please refer to an SN article dated March 3 captioned, ‘Activities already planned for Cummings Lodge multi-purpose building.’

Dear Editor, Sugar has become very bitter under the PPP. But I never expected it to become this bitter.

Dear Editor, Now that Brig (rtd) David Granger has been selected the PNC’s presidential candidate, the challenge to the PPP and the invitation to other contending parties and big tent hopefuls, has further defined itself.

Dear Editor, I write this letter to protest the assault on journalist, social activist, and human rights crusader Mark Benschop, who was assaulted by Presidential Press Liaison Officer Kwame McCoy.

Dear Editor, Someone drew to my attention the Chronicle’s bold front page headline: ‘Controversy surrounds elections of Granger, 65, as PNCR Presidential Candidate.’

Dear Editor, The initiative of the AFC to allocate two parliamentary seats to the diaspora is certainly novel and maybe to some, a bit controversial.

Dear Editor, Like many Guyanese currently living overseas, I left Guyana many years ago in search of hope, prosperity, and opportunities for my children.

Dear Editor, Guyanese have been burden-bearers for far too long and deserve to begin to enjoy the promise of this new decade. 

Dear Editor, I applaud the efforts by those in authority to enforce a ‘decent’dress code for persons entering certain government buildings/agencies.

Dear Editor, It would not have gone entirely unnoticed that France recently experienced substantial industrial unrest following the Sarkozy government’s insistence on raising the retirement age – an action critical to that economy, given the extent of public employment in that country.

Dear Editor, Interestingly enough it was my longtime Hindu friend who alerted, and eventually transported me, in excited expectation, to hear Hearing Slaves Speak at the Umana Yana on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.

Dear Editor, I write in relation to an article in the Stabroek News of Saturday, February,12, 2011 under the caption, ‘Lawyer’s court outburst results in further delay for client -discharge of jury in murder trial.’

Dear Editor, The AFC must be lauded for allotting (reserving) two seats to the diaspora (article captioned ‘AFC to keep two Parliament seats for Diaspora -Ramjattan’ in SN, Mar 3). 

Dear Editor, We rightly depend on historians to research and tell us history.

Dear Editor, The letter by Sasenarine Singh of the AFC (SN, February 28), mildly correcting Malcolm Harripaul’s letter on Cheddi Jagan, even offering him a spot in the AFC, is indicative of the common ground both hold in trying to assassinate the character and good name of President Cheddi.

Dear Editor, I feel compelled to make a brief response to only two aspects contained in a letter published in the Chronicle yesterday, and written by a personal and family friend, Mr Harry Gill.

Dear Editor, Having been a Maths and Science teacher for a long time at almost every level of education, and having also taught other subjects up to high school level, I feel I ought to contribute my two bits.

Dear Editor, On Monday, February 28, 2011, at 10.30am, a member of the public brought to my attention the fact that the previous day, Sunday, February 27, 2011, in the ‘Weekend Magazine’ section of the Sunday Stabroek, a notice had appeared entitled, ‘National Insurance Scheme Employers indebted to the National Insurance Scheme.’

Dear Editor, March has come and with it several activities for the UN Year for People of African Descent are planned.
