Literary fair

In observance of Guyana’s 44th Republic Anniversary, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport in collaboration with the University of Guyana’s (UG) Library, the National Library, Book Foundation, Book Land, the National Archives and the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD) hosted a literary fair on Friday, under the theme “Reconnecting People to Books on the Main Street Avenue.

Four men held after robbery at Nismes fuel station

At about 2230h. last night, police say that five men armed with a handgun, ice-picks and knives, attacked and robbed pump attendant at the Nismes Fuel Station Hassan Khan, 25 years, of an undisclosed sum of cash and three men who were with him watching television of a total of $13,600.00 and two cell phones.

Neonatal project sees 50% fewer deaths in a year

There has been a 50% reduction in the number of infant deaths at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) in the first year of implementation of a Neonatal Intensive Care Services project between the Ministry of Health and Dr Narendra Singh’s Guyana Help the Kids (GHTK) organisation.
