GBTI Tigers continued their impressive run in this year’s GTT National Indoor Hockey Championships by registering another win during the fifth evening of play at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).

Tigers, on this occasion, swept past Saints by an 8-0 scoreline at the end of regular time after a 3-0 lead at the half.

Aliyah Gordon and Marzana Fiedtkou led the way with two goals each, while Gabriella Xavier, Shebiki Baptiste, Sonia Jardine and Vanessa Pires recorded the other conversions over a hapless Saints unit whose defence lacked solidity.

The lone men’s first division match of the evening saw Saints coming from behind to record a 2-1 win over Supernova.   Warren Williams sent Supernova 1-0 up in the third minute of the contest when he converted a penalty corner as his side held the lead for the majority of the first half.

However, three minutes before the half, Hilton Chester struck to level the contest 1-1. The victory for Saints was then completed when Nickel Ashby netted in the 25th minute to lift his side to the 2-1 win.

Meanwhile, Old Fort Mustangs continued their unbeaten run by hammering Antonio’s Hikers 7-4 in the veteran’s category. Hat tricks from the red-hot Askofu Simon and Dwight Sullivan orchestrated Mustangs’ win while Ivor Thompson scored the other goal.

Abosaide Cadogan continued her goal-scoring ways with another strike on for Spartans

Devin Munroe, Robert Fernandes, Brian Asregado and Tristan Gomes were the individual scorers for Hikers.

Women’s second division action saw Bingo GCC Spartans defeating Saints 2-0 after strikes from Makeda Harding and the in-form Abosaide Cadogan, while GBTI GCC Spice went past Woodpecker Hikers 1-0 with Vanessa Pires’ 28th minute goal separating the two teams.

GCC Pitbulls, on the other hand, defeated Hikers Cadets 4-2 in men’s second division action.

Kareem McKenzie scored twice in the win for Pitbulls while Seth Jeffrey and Shauille Leung scored the other goals for the winners. Brian Asregado and Sherwyn Caesar were the scorers for the losing Cadets.
