Missing pensioner found dead in Adventure trench

A missing pensioner was found dead in a trench at Adventure Village, Corentyne, yesterday afternoon.

Dead is Aubrey Alexander, 67, of Adventure Village, Corentyne, who was a watchman.

According to information gathered, Alexander worked as a watchman at Sukhram’s Gas Station, located along the Adventure Village, Public Road Corentyne, opposite his home.

Stabroek News was told that he worked the 4.30 pm to 6 am shift.

However, one of his employers said that while Alexander was present at work Sunday afternoon, he could not be found on Monday morning.

His absence was noticeable as the employer said Alexander would assist with opening the gas station and then venture home and it was strange that he did not do so Monday morning.

His body was found floating in a trench located next to the gas station around 3.45 pm yesterday.

The police were immediately

summoned, after which Alexander’s body was retrieved.

A senior police source yesterday noted that there were no visible marks of violence on Alexander’s body.

However, a post-mortem examination will have to be conducted to determine the cause of his death.

Meanwhile, according to residents of the area, Alexander would smoke and drink regularly. They also claimed that he kept to himself mostly.

However, one resident, who spoke to him a few times, said that Alexander suffered from epileptic seizures.

An investigation has been launched.
