Limacol quarterfinal action tonight at Carifesta Avenue

All roads will lead to the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue tonight when the quarterfinal round continues in the 4th annual Limacol Football Tournament.

The opening match of the night will pit Riddim Squad against Mahaica Determinators from 19:00hrs.

Riddim Squad will start as the firm favourite following an unbeaten record in the previous group stage.

 The Mocha based outfit registered wins against Beacons, Pouderoyen and GT Panthers.

Statistically,  Riddim Squad has netted eight times. Defensively, they possess the best record with only two goals conceded.

 Mahaica enter the match on the back of two wins over Dynamics and the Guyana Police Force.

Their only defeat to date came at the hands of Pele FC. In terms of the numbers, Mahaica has recorded eight goals while the rearguard has allowed seven concessions.

  In the second match, Fruta Conquerors u20 side will match skills with Timehri Panthers from 21:00hrs.

The trio of Buxton Stars, Northern Rangers and Georgetown Football Club were the teams that fell to the unbeaten Tucville unit in the initial group stage.

From an attacking perspective the free scoring outfit leads the tournament with 17 conversions.

On the defensive end, Fruta Conquerors have also impressed with only three goals allowed.

 On the other hand, the East Bank unit ended the group round with wins against Black Pearl and Camptown, with the loss occuring against the formidable Santos u20.

Offensively Timehri Panthers have amassed five goal while their backing has been breached on four occasions.

The winners of the aforementioned matches will face-off in the semifinal round on Saturday October 5th.

They will also join the duo of Santos and Pele, who sealed the place in the final four section following contrasting wins.

Santos hammered Buxton Stars 6-3 in the quarterfinal. On the other hand, Pele edged GT Panthers 4-3 on penalty kicks after regulation and extra time ended 2-2.

Winner of the event will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third and fourth place finishers will collect $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
