Traffic management: On a hiding to nowhere

Traffic Chief, Senior Superintendent Linden Alves’ revelation that up to this time in 2019 the number of deaths on our roads have been fewer than for the corresponding period last year (94 deaths so far this year as against 100 in 2018) fits into the Police Traffic Department’s well-worn habit of pressing numbers into service to disguise the truth about the overall state of affairs on our roads.

Grant powers North Georgetown to another ‘Nationals’ swimming title

Powered by ace swimmer, Amy Grant’s four gold medals, North Georgetown (District 11) once again swam away with the spoils of the Swimming Champion-ships of this year’s ‘Nationals’ With the heroics of the other swimmers like Monique Watson who made big splashes and Grant’s medal haul at the National Aquatic Centre, District 11 emphatically retained the coveted title yesterday, tallying 446 points.

SARA claim against GBTI dismissed

A claim by the State Assets Recovery Agency (SARA) against the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) for the payment of $224 million related to a 2015 agreement for the sale of land was struck out on a technicality.
