Defending women’s champion GCC Tigers suffer shock defeat

Defending women’s champions GCC Tigers, suffered a shock defeat to George United when the Diamond Mineral Water Indoor Hockey Festival continued on Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force [TTDF], Hikers and Queen’s Park, however, were otherwise impressive.

George United defeated defending women’s champion GCC Tigers 3-2. Brianna Govia bagged a brace while Savanah DeFreitas scored one goal for George United.

For GCC Tigers, Marzana Fiedtkou and Dominique DeGroot scored one goal each.

George United also whipped Red Wyne 8-0 while TTDF claimed wins against Bounty GCC 6-4 and Saints 5-1 in men’s division. They also battled to a 1-1 stalemate with Queen’s Park. Pepsi Hikers defeated Bounty GCC 6-5 before playing to a 5-5 draw with Queen’s Park in the men’s division.

Queen’s Park downed Old Fort 4-1 and Saints 8-2 while GCC Tigers crushed Red Wyne 6-0.

In a women’s encounter, Spartans defeated Saints 4-1 with Abosaide Cadogan and Sarah Klautky bagging two goals each.

For saints, Clayzia Bobb scored the lone goal.

In the Lucozade veterans division, Old Forde defeated Fatima 6-2, while GCC Vintage downed Fatima 5-1. Fatima, though, rebounded to hold Queen’s Park to a 3-3 draw.
