T/dad hockey clubs sweep titles

It was a clean sweep of titles for the visiting Trinidad and Tobago sides when the 15th edition of the Diamond Mineral Water Hockey Festival concluded on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Mandela Avenue.

The outcome of the finals was a reverse of 2018 when the local sides copped the coveted division titles. Queen’s Park walked away with the men’s and veterans championships while George United secured the women’s accolade.

In the men’s final, Queen’s Park defeated Hikers 3-2 on penalty strikes after regulation time ended 3-3. Queen’s Park would also claim the Veterans title following an 11-8 score over Bounty GCC Vintage.

In the women’s final, George United edged GCC Tigers 5-4. Brittney Singh and Brianna Govia tallied doubles while Savannah de Freitas netted once.

Queen’s Park are all smiles following their triumph in the veterans section.

Fiedtkou and Gabriella Xavier scored one goal each.
