Golden Jaguars U20 side falls at final hurdle

The Golden Jaguars were dumped out the CONCACAF men’s U20 football qualifiers  going down to hosts Nicaragua 0-1 Sunday at the Nicaragua National Stadium.

Needing a win to seal their place in the elimination round in what was a clash of the unbeaten teams, the Golden Jaguars suffered a setback in the 18th minute, as Jemar Harrigon was issued with a red card.

Nicaragua eventually capitalized on their numerical advantage compliments of a 49th minute conversion from Ezequiel Ugalde, effectively sealing their place in the next round. It was the only goal conceded by the Guyanese in the entire tournament.

Guyana’s starting XI for the match consisted of Shawn Adonis, Marcus Wilson, Eric Moore, Nicholai Andrews, Keanu Lawrence, Threvon Pluck, Harrigon, Omari Glasgow, Nicholas McArthur [C], Javier George and Osafo Simpson.
