Going after fitness success

The most popular definition of success is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” When it comes to fitness, success can be defined in many ways: losing 20 pounds, getting ‘toned’, running a 10K, completing a bike race, or even climbing a mountain.

These are all examples of fitness success, but it can also include other feats such as to learning to walk again after an accident or simply having the energy to walk around your neighbourhood.

Achieving fitness success is purely subjective and depends on what each individual person is trying to do. No matter what that may be, achieving success will take hard work to make it a reality.

Here are some tools needed for fitness success:

Dedication

Nothing worth having comes easy, and this is especially true when it comes to fitness. To achieve fitness success, you must have absolute resolve and focus on achieving the results you want to obtain. Allow nothing to stop you from achieving your goals.

Willpower

Fitness and willpower go hand in hand. Being fit requires eating healthy foods and avoiding processed foods that can sabotage training and results. It also means going to bed at a decent time to get adequate rest even if you want to stay up late.

Patience and perseverance

The majority of people who start exercising on January 1st will quit sometime in February. There are many reasons people give up, but one of the most common is due to a lack of results. It’s important to understand that results can take longer than anticipated, but they will come in time. Patience is of the utmost importance.

Passion

Excitement is a great quality to have when starting on a fitness journey, but passion is the fuel that sustains us once the thrill and excitement are long gone. Passion is what keeps us going after the raw reality sets in that this may be a longer, harder journey than anticipated. Passion is the pure love of the process and everything it entails. Without passion, there can be no success.

Self-confidence

You can have access to the best equipment, personal trainers and healthiest foods known to man, but if you don’t have self-confidence, it’s all for naught. You will never achieve fitness success if you don’t believe you can. On the other hand, anyone with self-confidence will succeed whether they have help or not. The entire world can be against them and tell them they can’t succeed, but they understand the only person’s opinion that matters is their own, no one else’s.

There are many more tools that we can use for fitness success, but they all have one thing in common: they come from within.

Having a belief in yourself and your abilities is the foundation for success of any type.
