The new executives of Pomeroon Cricket Committee were effectively legitimized by the Essequibo Cricket Board Monday.

Following the intervention of the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB), the Pomeroon Cricket Committee (PCC) is now recognized.

A visit to the jurisdiction by acting ECB president, Alvin Johnson and secretary, Atto Christiani, helped iron out issues affecting the legitimacy of the body.

According to reports, the parties concerned were given a hearing so the ECB officials could understand what transpired when the PCC held elections recently.

Shortly after the elections in early May, issues were raised, one of which was that some members were not informed of the meeting which was not called by the outgoing secretary.

Johnson had subsequently told Stabroek Sport that an investigation would be launched by the ECB and that was done on Monday.

According to ECB’s Public Relations Officer, Tamika Johnson, the current board will now be recognized by the county board. Johnson said that himself and Christiani visited Charity “with their sole aim being to resolve the issue created by the recent staging of elections of the Pomeroon Cricket Committee which was not called by the outgoing secretary.”

The PRO explained that it was discovered by the ECB executives that a few members from the previous PCC, headed by Fizul Bacchus, were now part of the newly formed executive body.

She said that former secretary, Verna D’ Aguiar and Bacchus, who is out of the jurisdiction due to a prolonged illness, are the only members of the previous body not on the current executive.

According to Johnson, D’Aguiar is now fully supportive of the newly elected body and promised to give her support when needed.

D’Aguiar was also advised to write the ECB, endorsing the new body.

The Pomeroon Cricket Committee is headed by Ernesto De Mattos (Chairman) along with Carlos Thornhill (vice-chairman), Miranda Cornelius (Secretary), Noleen Baharally (Treasurer), Delicia Da Silva (Assistant Secretary/Treasurer), Shermon Austin (Marketing Manager), Boaz Roberts (PRO) and Committee members: Shawn Marks (Pomeroon Oil Mill), D. Persaud (Jacklow Sports), L. Garraway (Black Scorpion), S. Ramdeen (Eagles Sports Club), K. Williams (Conquerors), C. Thornhill (Tennis Farm), Baird (Jacklow Talibans) and E. Roberts (Pomeroon Super Kings).
