Team Evolution completes podium sweep

Christopher Griffith led a Team Evolution podium sweep of the 44-mile Father’s Day road race staged on Sunday at West Demerara. 

With some of the premier riders plying their trade in the USA, Griffith seized the opportunity to add to his palmares, leading club mates, Stephen Fernandes and Curtis Dey across the finish line in the event which started and ended at Schoonord with Parika being the turn back point.

The Banks DIH Limited-sponsored event saw , Griffith winning in 1h:41m.36s.

It was his second road race win of the season.

The fixture, which was organised by the Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club, saw Walter Grant-Stuart, Paul DeNobrega and Alex Mendes filling out the top six rewarding positions.

Grant-Stuart and Mendes finished second and third respectively behind Fernandes in the Masters category while Ian Jackson was the first Over-50 rider to cross the line.

In the juniors’ category, Mario Washington led Sherwin Sampson and Justin Thom to the top three spots while Suzanne Hamilton continued her dominance in the female division.

The native of Linden, who emphatically claimed the national road race and time trial titles, earned another victory by comfortably bettering her club mate, 17 year-old Clevicia Spencer.
