A post-mortem examination conducted on the remains of Kenrick Trim, who was found dead a short distance away from his car in Ogle, confirmed his cause of death as being due to stab wounds.

The 53-year-old taxi driver, of Lot 129 Belfield Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, is believed to have been a victim of a carjacking, during which he was stabbed multiple times before his body was dumped.

According to a police report, around 9 am on Wednesday, Trim’s body was discovered lying motionless in the grass at the end of Cul-de-Sac Street, Block 1, Ogle, East Coast Demerara.

The man’s body appears to have been dumped from his silver/grey Toyota Premio car, registration number HC 5311, which was parked nearby.

His body was later identified by his eldest son, Kenrick Odel Trim, at the Georgetown Public Hospital. He told Stabroek News his father had left home for work about 7.30 am on Wednesday. He said he received a call from the police about 10.30am informing him of the incident.

According to the man’s son, his father was wearing a gold chain and two gold rings when he left home but they were missing when he identified the body. The deceased was said to have two phones and an undisclosed quantity of cash, which were also missing.

The son said he was told by the police that his father had suffered multiple stab wounds. Trim also had an injury to his mouth and neck consistent with being punched in the face and being choked.

The younger Trim also shared that the police had found footage from a CCTV camera in the vicinity where his father was found. The police told him that the footage showed two men exiting his father’s car and crossing a wooden bridge. He added that the car was found stuck in the mud. It is believed that the men were hoping to escape with the car but were unable to do so. No arrest has been made.
