Track star, Emanuel Archibald is Guyana’s representative at the Olympic Games blue-ribbon 100m event which determines the fastest man on the planet.

Archibald is scheduled to get into the blocks next Saturday when the preliminary round of the marquee race gets off to a fast start at the Tokyo Olympic stadium.

And according to his coach, Julian Edmonds, he expects a lifetime best performance from the native of Linden.

“I would be very surprised if he doesn’t run his PR [personal record] at this meet,” said Edmonds on Wednesday, of his charge who ran a brisk 10.18s (wind assisted) at the National Championships last month.

“Emanuel is on point” Edmonds stated, adding, “ For the past few weeks we have been going through a lot of race simulations, we have been working on his starts and trying to get him faster. We did some flights and the times are on stream for him to run a PR.”

Edmonds reminded that the 26 year-old National Long Jump record holder was in sublime form earlier in the season and opined that once the conditions are right in the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’, Archibald can make hay in the sunshine.

“Once the conditions are right, I am confident that he can run a PR,” Edmonds iterated. Archibald along with fellow track athletes, sisters, Jasmine (100m) and Aaliyah Abrams (400m), along with Keevin Allicock (boxing), swimmers, Andrew Fowler (100m freestyle) and Aleka Persaud (50m freestyle), and table tennis player, Chelsea Edghill, are Guyana’s representatives at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad.
