Cutlass bandits rob teen vendor in Tuschen attack

Two cutlass-wielding bandits on Friday night attacked and robbed an 18-year-old vendor of his valuables at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.

Police yesterday confirmed that the teenager was relieved of a gold chain, valued $65,000, two Samsung Galaxy cellular phones worth $90,000, and $10,000 in cash during the attack, which occurred as he was making his way home.

The robbery occurred around 9.30 pm at Tuschen Access Road.

The police said enquiries revealed that the victim was walking south along the Tuschen Access Road when the two suspects rode up alongside him on a bicycle.

According to the police, the bandits dismounted the bicycle after which one of them rushed to the victim, placed a cutlass to his neck and demanded that he hand over his belongings.

The other suspect, relieved the victim of the items, the police said.

Both suspects fled the scene on the bicycle.

The matter was reported to the police and an investigation has been launched.

The suspects are yet to be located.
