A Kilcoy, Corentyne man died on Sunday after he lost control of his motorcycle and was then run over by another biker along the Upper Corentyne Public Road.
Dead is Devindra Kumar, 21, of Kilcoy Squatting Area, Corentyne.
According to information gathered, Kumar was riding motorcycle, CG 7601, proceeding north along the Number 51 Public Road with two other motorcycles at the time of the accident.
According to the Guyana Police Force, Kumar was proceeding at a fast rate when it is alleged by another motorcyclist that he “loose off his one hand from the handle and turned his head, looking backwards.”
Kumar then reportedly lost control of the motorcycle causing him to skid about 100 feet away.
The police report noted that an unknown motorcyclist who was behind allegedly ran over Kumar, lost control and fell onto the road causing another motorcyclist to then also lose control and run into a nearby trench on the eastern side of the said road.
The report further noted that the unidentified motorcyclist picked up his bike and rode away from the scene, while the two other motorcyclists were rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where Kumar was pronounced dead on arrival.
