The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is currently investigating the discovery of cannabis and a gun with ammunition at a Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, home.

The police, in a statement issued yesterday, said that the 876.35 grammes of cannabis sativa and a .38 revolver with six live rounds of ammunition were found in the Britton Street, Plaisance home at 19:30 hrs.

A party of policemen, along with ranks from North West Security Inc., were acting on information when they went to the home, the statement said.

Upon their arrival, the ranks saw an unknown man running from the house.

A search was then carried out on the lower flat of the premises, where ranks found three black plastic bags in the PVC ceiling. Two of the bags contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems and one contained a quantity of transparent ziplock plastic parcels each containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, all suspected to be cannabis. The .38 revolver and six live rounds were also found.

The area was canvassed but the suspect was not found, the police said. The suspected narcotics and firearm with the ammunition were taken to the Sparendaam Police Station.
