Linden’s Guinness `Greatest of the Streets’ kicks off today

The Linden Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ competition was officially launched yesterday at the Golden Taste Fish Shop.

In attendance at the launch ceremony were representatives from the competing teams, as well as officials from tournament sponsor Banks DIH Limited, including Sales and Outdoor Manager of the Linden branch Sean Grant.

Sixteen teams will compete in the four-day tournament which commences today at the Christianburg Hard-court. It is being contested utilizing an elimination format.  All the teams will be outfitted with uniforms compliments of long-standing partner Colours Boutique.

Swag Entertainment will oppose Midas from 19:00hrs in the opening affair, while the second fixture will pit Silver Bullets against Trendsetters from 19:30hrs. In the third encounter, Coomacka will engage Darkside at 20:00hrs, with the final fixture pitting Goodfellas against Germans from 20:30hrs.

The event will continue on Thursday at the Silver-City hardcourt. Whap-Whap takes the playing area against BackStreet Ballers from 19:00hrs, whilst Amazings engage Universal Ballers from 19:30hrs. In the final two matches, DC Ballers battle Spike Land from 20:00hrs, and High Rollers tackle Hillside Ballers at 20:30hrs.

The winner of the tournament will pocket $300,000, and a trophy, whilst the runner-up will collect $200,000, and the corresponding accolade.

Moreover, the aforementioned duo will also earn their berths in the national championship. Meanwhile, the third and fourth place finishers will receive $100,000, and $70,000 respectively.
