Swag, fierce rival set for showdown

Defending champion Swag Entertainment will engage fierce rival Silver Bullets and DC Ballers will oppose the experienced Amazings unit in the semifinal round Saturday at the Christianburg Hard-Court, following quarterfinal wins on Tuesday in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Linden edition.

Staged at the SilverCity Hard-Court, Swag Entertainment overcame a spirited Darkside outfit 2-0. The combination of Colwyn Drakes and Kendolph Lewis recorded second half goals in the 17th and 21st minute respectively.  Meanwhile, Silver Bullets squeaked past  Germans 2-1 with Donovan Francis and Darrel George fashioning first half conversions in the fourth and 11th minute apiece to seal the outcome. For the losers, Tyriq McAllister briefly equalised in the 10th minute.

In another fixture, DC Ballers upset Whap-Whap 1-0. Allan Halley made his presence felt with a 24th minute strike. Their opponent, Amazings, downed High Rollers 3-1. The trident of Errol Davies, George Stephen and Tyrese Lewis crafted goals in the 15th, 17th, and 21st minute apiece. On target in the loss was Qualon Andries in the 24th minute.

Winners of the semi-final matches will progress to the championship match. The losers will contest the third place playoff. The eventual tournament victor will pocket $300,000 and the championship trophy.

They will also earn an automatic berth to the national championship. The runner up will receive $200,000, and the corresponding accolade. The third and the fourth place finisher will walk away with $100,000, and $70,000 respectively.
