Linden man gets 4 years’ jail, $1.5M fine for damaging bulletproof glass, car

A Linden man was sentenced to four years in jail last Thursday after he pleaded guilty to damaging the property of the British High Commission and another person.

Akeem Fraser, 31, of Lot 4B One Mile, Wismar, Linden, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown, where the charges were read to him.

It was alleged that Fraser, on August 3 3, 2022, at Main Street, Georgetown, unlawfully and maliciously damaged a bullet proof glass, valued $154,000, which was the property of the British High Commission.

It is also alleged that the accused on the same date and at the same place, unlawfully and maliciously damaged a Toyota 100 Sprinter, valued $300,000, which was the property of Seon Graham.

Fraser pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced to a four-year sentence. He was also fined $1.5 million.
