After a grueling and inspirational day of competition on the steamy asphalt of the National Park, Omissi Williams and Semonica Duke were crowned the ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ of fitness in Guyana.

Williams and Duke two won the respective elite male and female categories in the Guyana Fitness Games’ ‘Mighty Malt Fitness Challenge’ on Sunday and earned the coveted titles of fittest man and woman.

Williams, of Aggressive Fitness Gym and Duke, of Genesis Fitness Gym, stood tall and proud on the first podium step after passing a true test of strength, endurance, speed, power and overall fitness during the 12 events to each pocket the 500,000 first prize.

Williams, of Linden, led his gym mate, Kellon Reid and Kelvin Baul into the top three.  Duke’s gym mate, Tonnica Dey and Delice Adonis were the other podium standees on the distaff side.

For the heroics of the runners up, they took home $300,000, and $200,000 apiece.

For the seventh edition of the event which was graced with the presence of Minister of Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., and Minister of Tourism, Oneidge Walrond-Allicock, the athletes were tasked with completing sprints, deadlifts, rope climbing, box jumps, burpees, assault bike, toes to bar, the sled push and other herculean feats.

The event, which was deemed a success by its organisers, garnered corporate support from Might Malt, KFC, The Ministry of Sport, Bounty Farm Limited, The Trophy Stall, Star Party Rental, Genesis Fitness Gym, iMerch and others.
