Relief Council says has been providing much needed help to fire victims

The Guyana Relief Council (GRC) yesterday said it has been providing almost 100% coverage for those affected by fires and providing much needed assistance to persons in all 10 regions.

In a statement, it said that despite being unable to engage in fund-raising activities during the past three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic it still managed to assist fire and natural disasters victims over the period.

During January and February, the Council said it provided assistance to the following families:

JANUARY 2023

FIRE

Ravindra Balkissoon a family of 4 of Seaview, Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara  (assistance given to help purchase building materials.)

FEBRUARY 2023

Adonie Dopson a family of 2, Analisa Isles a family of 3, Donovan Richardson a family of 4 and Drucilla Richardson a family of 2 all of Lot 7C Riverview Ruimveldt (Apartment #4).

Assistance to these fire victims was handed over on 3rd March, 2023 at the Guyana Relief Council’s office.

Monianne Howard a family of 4 of Government Reserve, North Ruimveldt

Abiola Castello a family of 3 of 110 Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara

Andrea Norville a family of 2 of 1 Public Road, Nismes, West Bank Demerara

Mellisa Smith a family a 6 of 110 Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara

Shanna Wilson a family of 6 of 1483 Farm, East Bank Demerara

Bibi Mohamed a family of 3 of 35 Public Road Agricola, East Bank Demerara

Marvin Valentine a family 1 of 55 Middle Street, Mc Doom Village, East Bank Demerara

As it looks to restart fund-raising, the GRC is asking members and volunteers to again get involved. It said that it is also seeking donations to effect much needed repairs to the Shelter so that it can be made to make it habitable to fire victims who require emergency temporary residence.
