Guyanese Mixed Martial Artist Carlston Harris (18-5) will make his return to the octagon on August 5th against American Jeremiah Wells (12-2-1) at the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) Fight Night 226 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

This was confirmed on Tuesday via an official UFC press release.

“Wells, 36, is a perfect 4-0 inside the octagon thus far in his UFC career, and is on a six-fight win streak overall. Most recently, Wells picked up a split decision win against Matthew Semelsberger in April. Harris, 35, is 3-1 under the UFC banner and coming off a win against Jared Gooden in March”, the release stated.

Harris rebounded from his first ever defeat in the promotion to secure a unanimous decision victory over Jared Gooden in his previous outing at the entity’s Fight Night 221 in Las Vegas on March 11th, 2023.

The Guyanese native, who fights out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, secured the result after all three judges scored the fight 30-27 in the catch-weight encounter after his opponent failed to make the required weight.

He was initially set to face-off against Abubakar Nurmagomedov. However Nurmagomedov withdrew from the bout for undisclosed reasons.

Harris suffered his first defeat in the UFC, losing to Shavkat Rakhmonov of Kazakhstan via a first round knockout on the main card of the promotion’s Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Strickland event on February 5th, 2022.

Prior to his aforementioned defeat, Harris defeated Impa Kasanganay via technical knockout at UFC Fight Night 192 in September 18th, 2021 in his second outing with the promotion. In his debut match, Harris defeated Christian Aguilera via an anaconda choke submission at UFC Vegas 26 on May 8th, 2021.
