Santa Rosa, Waramuri, Port Kaituma, Vreed-en-Hoop and Patentia recorded wins yesterday to advance to the next round in the 8th edition of the Digicel Schools Football Championship.
In the Region #1 section, Santa Rosa demolished Manawarin 11-0 at the Two Miles ground. Melon Lucas tallied a helmet trick, whilst Roy Van Sluytman and Deon James recorded two goals each. Adding one goal respectively were the trident of Travis Jarvis, Rockwell Harris, and Darius Williams.
Also, Waramuri defeated Kwabanna 3-1. The trio of Denish Williams, Zondel Abrams and Denzil Abrams scored in the 34th, 43rd, and 60th minute respectively. For the loser, Alister Frazer netted in the 62nd minute. At the Canal Bank ground, Port Kaituma mauled Matthew’s Ridge 8-0.
In the Region #3 section at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora, Vreed-en-Hoop downed Uitvlugt 3-1. Nicquan Boyce bagged a brace in the 45th and 57th minute, whilst David Williams contributed to the win with a 38th minute strike. On target in the loss in the 12th minute was Jevon August.
On the other hand, Patentia downed Zeeburg 2-0 compliments of second half goals from Timothy Kennedy and Michael Dillon in the 62nd and 70th minute apiece. The competition resumes today in Regions #1, #3, #4 East Bank, #4 East Coast, #5, #7, and #10.
