Charity was crowned the Region #2 champion in the Digicel Schools Football Championship, crushing Abram Zuil 4-1 yesterday at the Tapakuma ground.
Oundra Sobers and Renaldo Smith recorded respective doubles in the come from behind win. Sobers found the back of the net in the 10th and 45th minute whilst Smith etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 37th and 40th minute. For the loser, Threon Inniss scored in the fifth minute.
Meanwhile in the Region #10 segment staged at the Wisburg School ground, four time national champion Christianburg/Wismar lost to Mackenzie High 0-1 in the semi-final round. Dexter Milo recorded the only conversion in the 24th minute. Also, Kwakwani crushed hosts Wisburg 3-1.
Demio Williams and Kieshon Leacock scored in the 14th and 60th minute, while an own goal added to the score in the 55th minute. On target in the 23rd minute for the loser was Joshua Lambert.
In the Region #6 section at the Scott’s School ground, Vryman’s Erven defeated New Amsterdam 4-1 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended scoreless. Similarly, Port Kaituma bested Hosororo 7-6 on sudden death penalty kicks, following a 1-1 score at the Mabaruma ground in the Region #1 division.
