Soesdyke, Kato clinch Regional Championships in Digicel Football

Soesdyke won the Region #4 East Bank title section, whilst Kato emerged as the Region #8 victor when the 8th edition of the Digicel Secondary Schools Football Championship continued yesterday.

Soesdyke defeated Friendship 3-1 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 2-2 at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground, Carifesta Avenue. Prior to the aforesaid conclusion, Anderson Webber bagged a double in the 24th and 50th minute for Soesdyke, whilst Crandon Barnes and Simeon Haymer scored for Friendship in the 49th and 60th minute apiece.

Meanwhile, Kato downed Paramakatoi 2-0 at the Paramakatoi ground via a Robinson Young double. On the other hand, Dolphin Secondary, West Ruimveldt, and Charlestown earned contrasting wins in the Georgetown segment at the MOE ground.

Dolphin mauled Queen’s College 5-0. Jamal Williams recorded a brace in the 15th and 35th minute, whilst Nicholas Tappin tallied a double in the 24th and 60th minute. Supporting with a conversion was Cadwell Peters in the 52nd minute.

Similarly, West Ruimveldt brushed aside Brickdam 3-0. Donovan Welcome registered two goals in the fifth and 60th minute whilst Wayne Solomon found the back of the net in the 55th minute. Charlestown squeaked past Richard Ishmael 1-0. Jeremiah Booker etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 62nd minute.
