Guyana’s Desmond Amsterdam is into tomorrow’s light heavyweight final after winning his semi final bout via walk over but Keevin Allicock suffered a close semi final defeat last night at the AMBC Boxing Championships in Cali, Colombia.
By virtue of being semi-finalists at the event, the pair have now qualified for the Pan American Games which will be held in Santiago, Chile from October 20 to November 5.
Allicock, lost his featherweight semi-final bout in a somewhat head scratching points decision against southpaw Puerto Rican, Caleb Tirado.
Amsterdam, who won a bronze medal at last year’s event, was down to face Trujillo Barillas of Guatemala in the semis but the fighter was a no show.
He will either earn a silver or gold medal in this year’s edition.
